Parent Partnership
At Little Ambers we believe in working closely with parents and involving you as much as possible in your child’s experiences, discoveries and achievements during their time with us.
We keep a record of each child’s development in the Nursery, this is known as ‘My Learning Journey.’ Your child’s key person will meet with you during your child’s first couple of weeks and fill in this booklet with you. This is a great opportunity for both you and your child’s key person to get to know each other.
What You Need To Bring
For every session, your child needs to bring:
A named water bottle,
A coat in wet and cold weather,
A ruck sack with the following inside;
• Hat, scarf and gloves (cold weather),
• Wellies for outside play,
• Sun hat and sun cream (warmer weather)
• Slippers (indoor play)
Please make sure all your child’s belongings are clearly labelled with their name as this will prevent things getting lost.
Your Child’s Key Person
Every child will be given a key person before they start who will help them settle into nursery. They will also make sure your child’s learning and care is tailored to their individual needs.
The key person will organise key group activities twice a day, both in the morning and afternoon with the children allocated to their care. The focus of the group time is to promote literacy, communication and language. Throughout the week there is a focused book for each key group and many different activities are planned around the book, linking them all to the EYFS.
As well as being a useful point of contact for parents and carers, your child’s key person helps your child to take forward their learning and development by building on what they already know and can do. This ensures that each child makes satisfying progress.
We think it’s so important to keep parents informed as to their child’s progress, so that you can share and enjoy your child’s unique learning journey.
We also host parent’s evenings every term. All parents and carers are welcome to come along and chat to our staff at these events. This is a lovely opportunity for the children to show their families their work and all the things that they have been doing in the Nursery.
Uniforms
We encourage all our children here at Little Ambers to wear our uniform. We find the children love it because it makes them feel included and part of a team. Parents love it because it’s hard wearing, comfortable and practical.
The uniform we ask parents to provide is just a polo shirt and a jumper. You can order our uniform online from Brigade by visiting http://www.brigade.uk.com/
We take every care to ensure the children are kept clean and tidy, without spoiling their fun, so we provide aprons when involved in messy play. As we love making the most of our fantastic outside space, we ask that parents provide a pair of wellie boots to keep at nursery and that children are sent with a waterproof coat if the weather is looking a tad grey or wet. In those beautiful Spring and Summer months, your child must come to nursery wearing sun cream and a sun hat is a good addition to their outfit too!
Please ensure all items are clearly named.
